Welcome to Daresney ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our learning platform and services.

By using Daresney, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Personal Information

When you create an account or use our services, we may collect:

• Name and email address
• Account credentials (securely stored)
• Profile information you choose to provide

2.2 Learning Data

To provide personalized learning experiences, we collect:

• Quiz and test scores
• Course progress and completion data
• Time spent on lessons and practice questions
• Learning preferences and goals

2.3 Technical Information

We automatically collect certain technical information:

• Device type and operating system
• Browser type and version
• IP address and general location
• Usage patterns and feature interactions

2.4 AI Tutor Conversations

When you use the AI Tutor, we record the question you asked and the lesson or slide you asked it from. We do this to find lessons that need improving: a slide many students ask about is usually one we explained badly, and that is not visible from scores alone.

Your questions are read by our team for that purpose only. They are never shown to other students, and we do not use them to build a public profile of you.

2.5 Answers You Give in Lessons

When you answer a question inside a lesson, we record the answer you chose or typed, not only whether it was right. Knowing which wrong answer students pick is what tells us a question is genuinely misleading rather than merely hard.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

• Provide and improve our educational services
• Personalize your learning experience and recommendations
• Track your progress and generate performance reports
• Process payments and manage subscriptions
• Send important updates about your account and our services
• Respond to your inquiries and provide customer support
• Analyze usage patterns to improve our platform
• Ensure the security and integrity of our services

4. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

• Service Providers: With the third-party services listed in section 4.1, which host our platform and power specific features
• Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights and safety
• Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets
• With Your Consent: When you explicitly authorize us to share information

4.1 Who Processes Your Data

These are the providers we rely on, and what each one receives:

• Google (Firebase): account creation and sign-in, including your email address
• Supabase: our database and file storage — your account record, progress, and lesson activity
• Vercel: hosting and delivery of the website
• Google: generates AI Tutor replies — see section 4.2

4.2 What the AI Tutor Sends to Google

The AI Tutor does not run on our own servers. To answer you, we send Google:

• Your question, and the recent messages in that conversation
• The chapter, lesson, and slide you are on, and the text of that slide, so the answer matches what you are reading

We do not send your name or email address with it. Please avoid typing personal details, since anything you send is passed on to answer you.

Google processes this under its own terms as our service provider. Their servers are outside Lebanon, so using the AI Tutor means this information is transferred abroad.

5. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including:

• Encryption of data in transit and at rest
• Secure authentication through Firebase
• Regular security audits and updates
• Access controls and employee training

While we strive to protect your information, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

You have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of your personal data
• Correction: Update or correct inaccurate information
• Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Portability: Receive your data in a portable format
• Opt-out: Unsubscribe from marketing communications

6.1 How Long We Keep Your Data

We keep your account and learning data for as long as your account exists, so that your progress, streak, and history are still there when you come back. We do not currently delete it automatically after a set period.

When you ask us to delete your account, we remove your personal information and your learning records. Ask us at support@daresney.com and we will confirm when it is done.

7. Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to enhance your experience, remember your preferences, and analyze how our platform is used. You can control cookie settings through your browser preferences.

8. Children's Privacy

Daresney is intended for school students in grades 4–12. For children under 13, we require that a parent or guardian creates and manages the account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13 without such consent, please contact us immediately.

Parents and guardians should know that the AI Tutor sends a student's typed questions to Google in order to answer them (section 4.2). If you would prefer your child not use that feature, it is optional — the lessons, practice, and cheat sheets all work without it.

9. International Users

Daresney is based in Lebanon and serves students in the Middle East and North Africa region. By using our services, you consent to the transfer and processing of your information in accordance with this policy.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of Daresney after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
